Some moments ask to be remembered not just in thought, but in form. This collaboration began on Mallorca, a golden evening where sea and sky blurred into stillness. VELVENOIR saw in that moment the possibility of translation: from sensation into object, from memory into artwork.
Together with German artist Jorinde Voigt, celebrated for her poetic visual rhythms, and Alarwool, a Spanish atelier with generations of craftsmanship, we curated and realized her first fine-art carpet edition.
Hand-tufted from natural wool and viscose, Sparkling at Midnight carries the atmosphere of the island: the shimmer of the sea, the quiet radiance of sky, the warmth of earth after sunset. Each gesture drawn by the artist has been woven into a tactile surface, a landscape to be lived with.
In its making, VELVENOIR shaped more than a commission. We bridged contemporary art with artisan tradition, ensuring museum-level execution while preserving the intimacy of a memory. The result is a piece that is both functional and deeply expressive — a carpet as artwork, an object as encounter.
