Some collections begin with a single acquisition. Others, like this one, begin with dialogue — between two individuals, their shared vision, and the works that enter their home.
Our journey with this Hamburg-based couple unfolded as a collaboration, guided by curiosity and the desire to build something lasting. Each decision was made with care, ensuring that every new piece deepened the existing narrative while opening doors to new perspectives.
Walking through Art Basel together, we explored unexpected voices — from globally recognized artists to those just beginning to mark their place. Each encounter became a moment of reflection: Does this resonate with us? Does it belong to our story?
VELVENOIR’s role was to listen, guide, and shape possibilities — from reviewing and aligning the existing collection to sourcing and acquiring works that add depth, clarity, and resonance. Installation within their home was not the end, but the beginning of an ongoing conversation.
