"In a home where form follows feeling, art becomes the unspoken language of belonging."

01. The Idea

"A collection is not built in a moment — it grows, layer by layer, into an identity."

For a private residence in Victoria, British Columbia, VELVENOIR was invited to curate a collection that would not only complement the Japandi-inspired interiors but also extend their philosophy. Japandi, with its balance of Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian warmth, asks for clarity, restraint, and depth. It primes those who enter to slow down, to notice, to listen.

Working in close collaboration with Andrea Rodman Studio, we approached each artwork as part of the home’s narrative — not an addition, but a continuation. From Jean Boghossian’s large scale abstract work anchoring the living space to the serene compositions of Sun Young Min and Brooke Holm in the dining area, every choice was intentional. Each piece was placed not to interrupt but to invite: a pause, a reflection, a memory forming.

THE CONCEPT.

...weaving together personal expression, cultural dialogue, and enduring value.
