Art Encounter Series 2024 | Andratx, Mallorca
The inaugural Art Encounter Series at CCA Andratx, Mallorca, led by passionate founders Alexandra Schafer and Johanna Hector, has concluded its first chapter, leaving an indelible mark on attendees and the art community alike. This immersive three-day event drew art collectors, connoisseurs, and cultural enthusiasts to the serene, art-filled landscapes of Mallorca for a sensory experience unlike any other. Combining contemporary art with fine dining, soundscapes, and exclusive collectibles, the series achieved its vision of connecting people through art in an intimate, offline setting.
Bringing in contemporary art from leading art galleries in Europe and local
The Art Encounter Series brought together an exceptional selection of contemporary artworks sourced from leading European galleries and local talent, making it a truly distinguished showcase. Partnering with renowned names like MAi36, Pilar Correas, CCA Andratx, Galerie Pelaires, La Bibi, L21, Palma Contemporani, and Bildhalle, the event featured pieces seen at major art fairs like Art Basel and Frieze, as well as works celebrated at Mallorca’s own Nit de l’Art. This careful curation allowed guests to experience a unique fusion of international and local contemporary artworks worth collecting, presenting a collection that resonated with both global and regional perspectives in contemporary art.
A Vision Realized through Passion and Expertise
With decades of experience between them, Schafer and Hector curated an experience that resonated deeply with attendees. Alexandra Schafer, an internationally respected art advisor and founder of VELVENOIR, brought her cross-disciplinary expertise and global network of artists, creating an exceptional collection that highlighted both emerging and established talent. Pieces by internationally celebrated artists such as Thomas Ruff, Jorinde Voigt, Pia Fries, and Hayv Kahraman were not only on display but also available for acquisition, offering collectors an opportunity to acquire art in a setting crafted for connection and appreciation.
An Enchanting Musical Experience
In a masterful addition to this sensory journey, Johanna Hector drew on her musical background to invite acclaimed classical musicians to the series, elevating the experience to new heights. Solo violinists Nina Heidenreich and Cellist Jorge Giménez joined the event, performing amidst the art-filled spaces of CCA Andratx. With exquisite acoustics and breathtaking surroundings, each performance became an intimate concert, with classical masterpieces echoing through the gallery, blending with the visual art on display.
The carefully selected pieces complemented the artworks and fostered an atmosphere of serenity and introspection. These live performances added another layer to the experience, connecting music and art in a way that moved guests to reflect, connect, and savor each moment.
Crafting an Unforgettable, Multi-Sensory Encounter
In addition to the visual and auditory feast, the Art Encounter Series included the Michelin-starred dining experience created by Maria Solivellas from Ca Na To Ne Ta inspired by the artwork, with each course paired with fine local wines from winery Miquel Gelabert. Guests enjoyed these culinary creations on bespoke, handcrafted tableware by Sara Linder Forrer, enhancing the tactile and visual aspects of the dining experience. While the wines have been poured into the hand-blown glasses by Zalto. This holistic approach to art, music, and fine dining offered a rare, multi-sensory immersion into creativity.
Merging Contemporary Art with Exclusive Collectibles
In addition to the curated art collection, the Art Encounter Series showcased a selection of collectible design pieces from passionate, artisanal firms, bringing a tactile layer of artistry to the event. Carefully chosen objects from Mezza Maiso were displayed alongside the artwork, each piece reflecting a commitment to craftsmanship and timeless design. These collectibles included a limited-edition chair.
The series also featured the table collection from Kaia, known for its refined aesthetics and artisanal elegance. Each table in this collection offered a unique interplay of materials and forms, balancing functionality with artistic expression. Together, these carefully selected objects enhanced the immersive quality of the Art Encounter Series, allowing guests to experience art and design as interconnected elements in a harmonious, curated environment.
