Alexandra Ray, director of Alex Ray Art Advisory, based in San Francisco, brings 18 years of experience in dealing in contemporary art and building dynamic blue chip collections. She started in London, where she grew up, after gaining a Fine Arts degree at Central St. Martins School of Art. Entering into the world of Interior Design quite by default, she discovered that working on interiors actually took her back into the realm of sourcing and selling art to her clients. After having concentrated on building an extensive corporate collection of over 200 acquisitions for Aspen Re, in London, she relocated to the West Coast and began to build an arts consultancy there. With her interior design foundation Alexandra has the expertise and “on point “ ability to design art into interiors, both from a residential and commercial hospitality perspective. Having been selected five years in a row to participate as both art consultant and designer in San Francisco’s prestigious Decorator Showcase House, she serves as art advisor and stylist to many of the top interior designers on the West Coast. Her scope has expanded to working on several luxury properties with top notch developers, not only curating the art, marketing the project but selling it in a stage- to- sell model. With her own stable of rising artists, she is able to deal on all budget levels and still advise on blue chip investment for her private and international clients. She promotes and nurtures artist’s careers by giving them a platform in pop up shows in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. She is an active SECA member for San Francisco Modern Museum of Art and on the board of Sf’s StArt Up Art fair.
“Onboard from the start, I see such enormous value in anyone employing Velvenoir as a resource. No other art concierge provides such an excellent top notch service to their clients and such a vision for the future way art will be sourced and sold. Our clients have the comfort of personalized and valued expertise from its worldwide base of consultants. I am excited to be a part of this team and lead the way for projects on the West Coast. With the rapidly growing tech industry getting more and more savvy about art on the West Coast, we are having to stay ahead of the curve and Velvenoir brings a really diverse robust supply of art to our clients here.” – Alexandra Ray- West Coast Executive, Velvenoir, West Coast.
