#ArtTour Insights | On these beautiful spring days, let yourself inspire with Erwin Wurm, the Surrealists and Georg Baselitz. Our tour began at Erwin Wurm's "Idole" series of works, which not only makes a strong sculptural impression but also points out a statement: "The sausages and cucumbers - recurring motifs in the artist's works - become monuments to the domination of consumption over human individuals.

Afterwards, we have visited the "Drame surréaliste" exhibition, which convinces with its free creative vein. The works deal with surrealism and thus with the "new style of drama". The result was a multitude of exciting and breathtaking works.

Finally, we stood in front of the works of Georg Baselitz and marvelled at his "Freitag war schön" series, which caught our eyes with its strong colours and intense brushwork. "The works show portraits of his wife Elke, whose depictions have accompanied the steady development of his artistic practice for over 50 years.

Salzburg is currently a real art hotspot and a true artistic kick-off for the new year :)

#exhibition insights coming from #Portugal | The exhibition “Sufoco” present artworks by the art collective – Atelier Contencioso [ Maria Sassetti, Joana Gomes, Xana Sousa e Ana Velez ] – created during the Portuguese lockdown period and engaged with the conceptual idea do the unheimlich, a proposal based on Sigmund Freud’s 1919 text (published towards the end of the pandemic of his time): what is simultaneously not familiar or familiar, triggering our own sense of uneasiness. The setting for our discomfort is within our own home – the limit (in all senses of the word) of where we have tried to re-exist in recent times.

#artnews on Sunday | Sacha Jafri´s 17.000 square feet painting was sold for $62 million at an auction and is, therefore, the most expensive painting ever sold by a living artist. The art piece is called "The Journey of Humanity" and is the world’s largest painting, as certified by the Guinness Book of World Records. Jafri, who has not previously had a major presence at auction, painted this abstraction, featuring drips, whorls, and splatters of various hues, over the course of several months last year at the Atlantis. The resulting canvas includes more than 300 layers of paint. The proceeds will go to a variety of organizations, including UNICEF, UNESCO, the U.A.E.’s Ministry of Education, and the Global Gift Foundation.

#ArtTour Insights | On these beautiful spring days, let yourself inspire with Erwin Wurm, the Surrealists and Georg Baselitz.
